Santa Clara

Famous mainly for its connection with the Commander of the Cuban Revolution Ernesto “Che” Guevara whose remains rest in the Mausoleum dedicated to him, this also colonial city, offers a calmer and more provincial atmosphere.

It’s usually visited on the way to Trinidad or back to Havana, but if you want to stay, we recommend visiting the town of Sagua la Grande, once the economic engine of the area with surprising architecture, and relaxing for a few days on the beaches of the keys to the north of the province: Cayo Santa María or Cayo Ensenachos.

The “Parrandas de Remedios”, local festival on December 24 are also an attraction in this small colonial town that you can also visit on the way to the keys.
